What are age spots?
Age spots — also called sun spots, liver spots or solar lentigines — are flat brown marks that appear on sun-exposed skin, usually from the 30s or 40s onwards. They are caused by cumulative UV exposure rather than age itself, and are generally harmless.
Not every brown mark is an age spot. Seborrhoeic keratoses are raised, melasma is patchy, and some spots need medical review. Your physician examines each one before treating, and will advise a check if anything looks unusual.
How does Pico laser remove age spots?
Pico laser delivers energy in pulses measured in trillionths of a second. This shatters pigment into very fine particles with less heat spread to surrounding skin, which the body then clears over the following weeks.
Treated spots usually darken first, then form a thin crust that flakes away to reveal lighter skin. Many spots clear in one or two sessions.

Recovery, aftercare and travel plans
Expect treated spots to look darker for a few days and form small crusts that come away in about 5–10 days. Do not pick them. Some redness or a temporary lighter or darker mark can occur and usually settles with time and sun protection.
Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential, both to protect healing skin and to reduce new spots. If you are visiting Seoul, treat early in your trip and avoid beach holidays straight afterwards.
Treatment is usually postponed with a recent tan or sunburn, pregnancy, active infection or recent isotretinoin use. Your physician will confirm suitability.
