Skin Concerns in Jongno & Myeongdong Skin concerns, read by layer.

Skin concerns at Obliv Seoul Origin in Jongno, central Seoul, are diagnosed before they are treated. A physician reviews Mark-Vu imaging of pigment, redness, pores, wrinkles and moisture, identifies which skin layer the concern sits in, and then chooses lasers, renewal treatments, injectables or energy-based lifting that work at that depth.

Five families of concern

Most people arrive with one concern and leave understanding which layer it belongs to. The family decides the tools.

Ask a physician
Tone
Melasma, freckles, dark spots and general pigmentation — mostly in the epidermis, sometimes reaching the upper dermis.
Calm
Facial redness, persistent flushing, sensitivity and a weakened barrier — managed gently, often over several visits.
Glow
Dehydration, dullness and the wish for clearer, more even skin — usually addressed in the epidermis and upper dermis.
Texture
Large pores, active acne, acne scars and rough skin — from the surface down into the full dermis.
Contour
Nasolabial folds, marionette lines, sagging cheeks, jawline and double chin — fat, SMAS fascia, muscle and support.
How we assess
Physician consultation with Mark-Vu imaging, then a Skin Architecture diagnosis by layer.
Records
Every treatment is kept in the Skin Library, so return visits build on what was done before.
Where
Pagoda Tower, 93 Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jongno-gu — between Insadong and Myeongdong; open 7 days.

Why start with the concern rather than the treatment?

Most people know what bothers them long before they know what it is called. Brown patches, a flush that never quite settles, pores that look larger by the afternoon, a softening jawline — these are the things people actually notice, so this is where our pages begin.

Two concerns that look alike can sit in very different layers. A brown mark may be a superficial sun spot or deeper pigment; a fold beside the mouth may be skin laxity, fat descent or lost support. Choosing a device before that question is answered is how treatments disappoint.

How do concerns map to skin layers?

We read skin in eight layers — from the surface to the bone. Skin Architecture is simply the habit of locating a concern in one or more of those layers before deciding how to reach it.

The mapping below is a general guide rather than a rule. Your physician will confirm it on your own skin, and many concerns span more than one layer.

  • Epidermis — freckles, sun spots, dullness, surface texture
  • Upper dermis — melasma, post-inflammatory marks, visible redness
  • Full dermis — acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines
  • Lower dermis and fat — early laxity, heaviness under the jaw
  • SMAS fascia — sagging cheeks and jowls
  • Muscle and bone — expression lines and lost structural support

Which treatments are used for which concerns?

Tone concerns are usually treated with Pico laser, pico toning or laser toning. Redness and sensitivity call for a gentler approach — calming renewal treatments such as Exosome, barrier care and, where suitable, lasers aimed at visible vessels. Texture and scarring may involve Potenza, CO2 or fractional resurfacing.

Contour concerns are where energy-based lifting comes in: HIFU such as Ultherapy Prime or Coolsonic, RF such as Thermage FLX or Sofwave, and Onda microwave, sometimes alongside Botox, fillers or collagen stimulators. A physician decides which, if any, are appropriate for you.

Each concern page below explains causes, assessment, treatment routes and realistic results in more detail.

Can I address a concern during a short visit to Seoul?

Often you can begin. Many tone, glow and contour treatments have little downtime and fit a few days in Seoul; others, such as resurfacing for scars, need more recovery than a short trip allows. Some concerns, like melasma or redness, respond best to a course rather than one session.

Send your concern, photos if you wish and your travel dates on WhatsApp before you arrive. Our international concierge will explain what is realistic in English, and the clinic is open seven days a week in Jongno, a short walk from Myeongdong and Insadong.

VI — Questions

Skin Concerns — asked & answered.

General information only. Your physician will advise on what is right for your skin.

Ask your own question
I am not sure what my concern is called — can I still book?

Yes. Describe what you see, or send a photo on WhatsApp, and the physician will identify it at consultation with the help of Mark-Vu imaging.

Will I always be offered a treatment?

No. If your physician thinks a concern is best left alone, managed with skincare, or assessed by another specialist, they will say so plainly.

Can more than one concern be treated in a visit?

Often, yes — for example pigment and texture, or contour and skin quality. Your physician will decide what can safely be combined and in what order.

How long do I need in Seoul to treat a concern?

It depends on the concern. Low-downtime treatments can fit a two- or three-day stay; courses for melasma or redness usually continue over weeks, which your physician will plan around your travel.
