What causes sun spots — and are they the same as age spots?
Sun spots form where UV exposure has stimulated pigment cells over time. The terms "sun spot" and "age spot" are often used for the same thing — solar lentigines — but sun damage can also show as many small spots, freckle-like clusters or a generally blotchy tone.
Mark-Vu imaging can reveal pigment that is not yet obvious to the eye. Seeing the full picture helps your physician decide whether to treat individual spots, the whole face, or both.
Which treatment suits my sun spots?
The choice depends on how the pigment is distributed, your skin tone and how much downtime you can accept.

Recovery, aftercare and travel plans
After toning, slight redness usually fades within hours. After spot treatment, spots darken and form small crusts that flake away in about 5–10 days. Temporary lighter or darker patches are possible and usually settle with time and sun protection.
Because the cause is sun, protection afterwards is part of the treatment. If you are visiting Seoul, avoid planning a beach or ski trip straight after, and wear a hat and sunscreen while sightseeing around Jongno and Gwanghwamun.
Treatment may be postponed with a recent tan or sunburn, pregnancy, active infection or recent isotretinoin use. Your physician will confirm suitability.
