Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) gels injected to restore lost volume, soften deep folds and refine contour — for example cheeks, under-eye hollows, lips, chin and nasolabial folds. How do dermal fillers work?
With age, the face loses fat, bone support and collagen, which shows as hollows, flattened cheeks and deeper folds. Hyaluronic acid fillers replace some of that lost support, placed precisely at the depth where the volume is missing.
Different fillers have different firmness. Softer gels suit lips and fine areas; firmer gels suit cheeks, chin and jawline where structure is needed. Your physician chooses the product and depth for each area.

Are dermal fillers safe?
HA fillers have a long safety record when placed by trained physicians. The most common effects are swelling, tenderness and bruising, which usually settle within days.
A rare but important risk is filler entering or pressing on a blood vessel. Physicians reduce this risk through knowledge of facial anatomy, careful technique and, in some areas, blunt cannulas — and know how to recognise and treat it promptly, including with hyaluronidase. What happens on the day?
Your physician assesses your face at rest and in movement, discusses the look you want and explains which areas would genuinely benefit. You can always start conservatively and add more later.

Recovery, aftercare and travel plans
Expect some swelling, tenderness and possibly bruising, especially around the lips and under the eyes. Avoid pressing on the area, intense exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24–48 hours, and avoid facial massage or energy-based treatments for about two weeks unless your physician advises otherwise.
If you are visiting Seoul, treatment early in your stay leaves time for swelling to settle and for a review if needed. Leaving at least 2–3 days before a flight or important event is sensible, longer for lips.
Seek help promptly for increasing pain, skin colour change or blanching after filler. Fillers are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection in the area, or with some autoimmune conditions — your physician will review your history.

Typically 6–18 months, depending on the product, the area treated and your metabolism. Lips usually fade sooner than cheeks or chin.
Can filler be removed if I don't like it?
Yes — hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Your physician will assess whether and how much to dissolve.
Will I bruise?
Bruising is possible, especially around the lips and eyes, and usually fades within a week. Avoiding blood-thinning supplements and alcohol beforehand, where medically safe, can help.
Can I fly after filler?
Yes — but we suggest leaving at least 2–3 days, or longer for lips, so swelling settles and any concerns can be checked before you travel.
Is filler better than lifting for sagging?
Not always. Filler restores volume; sagging from the deeper SMAS layer is often better addressed with HIFU or RF lifting. Many plans combine both, spaced appropriately.
