What are freckles, and why do they come back?
Freckles (ephelides) are small, flat, light-brown spots that usually appear in childhood and darken in summer. They reflect an inherited tendency of pigment cells to respond strongly to sunlight, rather than an increase in the number of cells.
Laser can lighten existing freckles well, but it does not change that tendency. With sun exposure, freckles often reappear — so consistent sun protection is what keeps the result.
Spot treatment or toning — which is right for me?
Both use Pico laser. The difference is energy and spread, and therefore downtime.
- Pico spot treatment — faster lightening; small crusts for about a week
- Pico toning — gradual lightening with little or no visible downtime
- Freckles with melasma — toning only, at gentle settings
- Short trip to Seoul — toning, or spot treatment early in the stay

Some people prefer to soften freckles rather than remove them all. Tell your physician what look you want; treatment can be tailored.

Recovery, aftercare and travel plans
After spot treatment, freckles darken slightly and form tiny crusts that flake away in about 5–10 days. After toning, mild redness usually fades within hours. Temporary darkening can occur, especially after sun, and usually settles with care.
Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and reapply when outdoors. If you are visiting Seoul, autumn and winter visits make aftercare easier than mid-summer.
Treatment may be postponed with a recent tan or sunburn, pregnancy, active infection or recent isotretinoin use. Your physician will confirm suitability.

Does freckle removal hurt?

How long do the crusts last?

Can I fly after freckle removal?
Yes. Flying is fine; plan for visible crusts for about a week after spot treatment and protect your skin from strong sun at your destination.
Can I keep some freckles?
Yes — treatment can be selective. Many people choose to soften freckles rather than remove them entirely.
